I learned it from my mother, who got it from her mother, who got it from her Scottish-born mother. No way of knowing how long the family has enjoyed this wonderful dish.<br /><br />I always added a layer of green beans between the meat and the potatoes as a way of getting the kids to eat their vegetables.
