Certainly it is true that bo...Interesting thinking. Certainly it is true that books are banned because that is what the majority (or powerful minority) of a society wants for itself. But what happens if the banning decisions are made in secret? Or if books are not formally banned, but are secreted in the bowels of a silent institution? How can a mature adult make his preference known if he has never heard of the books in question!<br /><br />I read two naughty books as an adolescent:<br />Lady Chatterley's Lover 1929 by DH Lawrence and<br />The Group 1963 by Mary McCarthy.<br /><br />Nothing shocking happened.
