COLD WINTER

“People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy.” - Anton Chekhov

Magpie Tales has given us a new image this week to stimulate literary creativity. This photograph first elicited a smile from me and then I noticed the stark contrast between the cool and warm colours. The contrast engendered three haiku.

Gently, silently
Snow falls outside my window;
Hot thoughts of your love.

Warm wool covers me up,
Fire burns fiercely in fireplace –
Alone my heart: Cold.

Wind howls, air freezes,
Icicles snap; Who needs furs,
While we two embrace?

  1. I like it! I would rather an embrace than a brace of furs.

    Love the Chekhov quote, btw.

  4. Body heat - really can't beat it! Nice little Haiku's indeed.

    We're waiting on snow falling tonight here in Scotland but my lads wish they were spending their winter months in Australia.......!
